Stephen Hough

Stephen Hough is Emeritus Professor, Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Academic Hospital, South Africa.

He is the former Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, and former Head of the Division of Endocrinology. He has held various roles, including Chairman, at the National Endocrine Society of South Africa (SEMDSA), and is current Editor-in-Chief of JEMDSA.

Prof Hough is the founder and President of the National Osteoporosis Foundation of South Africa. Prof Hough is also the founder of the SA Diabetes Association (SADA). He is a member of various committees of the College of Medicine; S A Medical Research Council; S A Medicines Control Council; American Society for Bone and Mineral Research; American Endocrine Society; International Osteoporosis Foundation (Committee of Scientific Advisors); American Paget’s Foundation (International Advisory Panel); International Bone and Mineral Society (Membership Committee).

He is an Examiner in Clinical Medicine and the Basic Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Witwatersrand, Natal, Pretoria and the Orange Free State, as well as the College of Medicine.
