Learning Objectives

After attending the course, participants should be better prepared to:

  • Describe relevant history and physical findings to identify patients at risk for fracture
  • Describe the radiologic findings in patients with osteoporosis including the utility of vertebral fracture assessment
  • Describe the use of non-pharmacologic therapy (exercise, calcium, vitamin D) for the management of osteoporosis
  • List the pharmacologic options available for the treatment of osteoporosis and their mechanism of action
  • Explain the evidence regarding the use of combining pharmacologic agents in osteoporosis treatment
